Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase like this with results like these.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
