Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a announcement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Career on Screen
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his family.
