PSG Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times late to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
