The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block saw the return of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the channel launched a completely new animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. At a time often marked by cynicism, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and championed its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about following this charming family navigate their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to evolve comedy past its prevailing layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially catalyze that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
